History
You know, I never thought much about the Caprice.Thats because I drove a 95' 9C1/L99 version for several years and it just did not have the power I was expecting in a service vehicle. Then when Chevrolet introduced the Menacing Black Impala SS, I knew I had to have one. Next problem, I couldn't buy an Impala SS if I tried. "Nice prices for nice cars". The only way to fix the problem is to convert a 9C1/LT1. By converting a 9C1 I will be less paranoid about where I park the car or who is next to it. Also I can do what I want to the car and not have to worry about messing up a good Impala. My search for a 9C1/LT1 lead me to Aaron in Phoenix Arizona. He had a 95' 9C1/LT1 with 84K on it. I took ownership of the Orca looking thing on Oct. 27th. I drove her home and she ran great during the drive home, all 850 miles. It did service at the Plano, Texas Police Department and was marked unit #166 prior to Aaron's owner ship. If any Plano P.D. Officers can give me some history about this car please contact me. I have tried to e-mail the Plano Police Chief with no responce. First thing was the paint job. Even though Aaron did a great job taking care of the Black and White paint I still want to avoid being a mobile target. The car had minor damage to the body. A few trunk dents lower right back quarter, a small dent in the lower drivers door, three small dents in trunk, and about six very small dents in different places on the body. Plano P.D. was antenna happy with five roof mounted antennas and one hole for the light bar. All were welded and finished by Mike Richardson. The front Caprice hood ordainment was removed and the hole was welded. The trunk key bow tie was removed along with the chrome strip and all of the holes were welded and finished. The trunk lock was relocated. Also the spot light was removed and the cut out in the door frame was welded and finished. Paint was applied by Ronny Martin and it is Impala SS Black with SS ghost stripes painted with Twilight Blue Poly Metallic. Body work was done by me with a little more help from Mike Richardson. I will add the CapriceSS 1/4 scripts in the near future. I have chosen to go with the CapriceSS import scripts and dash plate because I know that the car in not an ImpalaSS. I want the same look and style of the Impala but I am not going to try to fool anyone. The Stereo system was installed the day after Orca got home. Installed is a JVC indash cassette with component 12 Disc CD changer and a 200w Pioneer power amp. The stock AM/FM is for sale. Now I am in the market for wheels and tires. I am not particular about which wheel, ImpalaSS or aftermarket, that I put on the car as long as it looks good. So I am looking to see what I can find. The 9C1 wheels and caps will be for sale when new wheels are found. Best offer will get them. Interior will remain the Government Blue color with accents of Twilight Blue to go with the paint.
